How to Prepare for a Peel Treatment

Chemical and facial peels are extremely popular treatments from Calderon MD. Many of our patients are eager to undergo treatment and reveal smoother more vibrant skin.  However, many patients do not realize that there is also some preparation that needs to be performed prior to undergoing a peel treatment.

Two weeks before you plan to receive a chemical peel it is important to avoid certain other procedures such as electrolysis, waxing, depilatory cream, laser hair removal or other chemical peels. While always recommended to be avoided, you should be sure to avoid the use of tanning beds and other intense sun exposure prior to a peel treatment.

Finally, you should stop using tretinoids, retina-a, renova, differin, tazorac, avage or any other product containing retinol, AHA or BHA. Products containing a high percentage of glycolic acid or benzyl peroxide, or products that may be irritating to the skin should also be avoided.

On the day of the treatment, please keep your face clean and do not apply makeup
If any active or extreme breakout occurs before treatment, please let us know in advance.
